A family-owned service station in Leeds has reopened after a £2m redevelopment of the site.
Woodman Services comprises a 1,800sq ft Nisa Local store, Starbucks drive-thru, car wash and a 24-hour Shell forecourt. It takes the place of a former pub and the existing services which was previously run by the family business, Woodman & Stourton Partnership, for 15 years.
The family celebrated the reopening with two days of fun events which attracted hundreds of visitors. Attractions included an appearance by a Shell formula 1 racing car, and freebies including Nisa goody bags and curry tasting.
Co-owner Idris Patel said: “Inviting the community was the perfect way to celebrate our brand-new development which took many months to build and perfect for not only the ease of the shopper but to also offer everything they need conveniently.
“This development has had so much money injected into it, so we believe it is a big feat for the area. We hope it will not only boost the surrounding area, but it will also benefit those living in the community and travellers who can take advantage of the services passing by.”
The owners started work on the development in June 2014 and it took eight months to complete. It was opened by PRA chairman Brian Madderson and the Mayor of Morley Wyn Kidger.
