Northumbria Police are appealing for information after an assault at a petrol station in Blyth, Northumberland.

They reported that at 12:20pm on Sunday, May 26, a 50-year-old man was involved in an altercation with another man at the Asda petrol station forecourt in Cowpen Road.

The 50-year-old was punched in the face and sustained facial injuries, after which the offender fled the scene.

Enquiries were carried out into the attack and an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was at the forecourt at the time of the assault and who might have witnessed what happened to contact them on 101 ext 69191.
