Top 50 Indie MFG, which introduced a summer-long 25% discount offer on EV charging, is extending the offer indefinitely.
The deal drops the price of a kiloWatt hour from 79p to 59p and only requires drivers to use the firm’s Connect app to take advantage of the cut-price power.
The 20p price reduction takes over from MFG’s the summer discount, which comprised the same price drop for all customers and ran from July 1 to September 30.
MFG operates 1,450 charging bays across its EV Power network is the UK’s largest ultra-rapid (150kW+) chargepoint operator (CPO), meaning its pricing strategy is likely to be closely watched by rival firms.
Shell offers a 10p per kWh discount for its app users, alongside off-peak and subscription offers, while Instavolt sells electricity at 55p per kWh during off-peak hours of 8pm to 7am for drivers using its app of RFID card. Ionity, meanwhile, knocks 4p off the price of a kiloWatt hour for its app users, with further discounts for subscribers who pay a monthly fee.
As well as facilitating cheaper charging, MFG’s Connect app offers a car-wash loyalty scheme that makes every fourth car wash free, and notifies customers of in-store and forecourt promotions.
Martin Symes, MFG’s EV director comments: “Making EV driving easier also means making it simpler and more affordable. With the MFG Connect app, drivers can start and pay for a charge in a few taps and pay just 59p per kWh at every one of our sites, among the most competitive ultra-rapid app rates in the UK.”
