O’loughlin joins mfg

MFG has appointed former Applegreen UK boss Michael O’Loughlin as its new managing director, acquisitions and business development. O’Loughlin joined Petrogas as a licensee of its flagship site in Dublin in 1997. In 2008 he relocated to the UK to establish Applegreen’s UK business.

Hydrogen funding

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) has announced details of its £23m Hydrogen Transport Programme, which will provide funding to support the roll out of hydrogen refuelling stations and fuel cell vehicles in the UK. Stage one will commit up to £9m to 50:50 match-fund around seven HRSs to be completed in 2018/19. Funding will commence in November.

Improved synergy supreme

Esso is launching a new and improved formulation of its premium unleaded fuel, Synergy Supreme+ Unleaded (97 octane). The new formulation contains friction modifier molecules that help to protect the engine by reducing wear and tear.

Euro garages goes for planning

Euro Garages has applied for planning permission for a filling station including drive-thru food retail in Bacup, Lancashire. The proposals comprise a five-pump petrol station, retail store with attached food retail drive-through, an electric charging point and a total of 14 parking spaces.

Instavolt joins apea

InstaVolt has joined the APEA (Association for Petroleum and Explosives Administration) as it aims to install thousands of electric vehicle charging points at forecourts across the UK. The company is on a mission to install 3,000 units across the UK by 2020.

Police appeal

Police in Rugby are appealing for witnesses after a forecourt worker was violently assaulted in the early hours of August 30. A man described as white, with an Eastern European accent, targeted the Gibbetts Cross Service Station on the A5 at around 4.30am. The man put the member of staff in a headlock rendering him unconscious.
