The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) has met Maria Rehbinder, head of internal markets at the European Commission, to explore proposals for action on unfair trading practices.
The meeting follows publication of the responses received to the Commission’s consultation on ‘Unfair Trading Practices (UTPs) in the Business-to-Business Food and Non-Food Supply Chain in Europe’.
NFDA director Sue Robinson commented: “The European Commission acknowledges the high response rate from the automotive sector on the issue of unfair business to business practices. However it is struggling to identify a way forward that would provide a single solution across all sectors.
“Therefore, given the difficulty to legislate for both food and non- food sectors, the European Commission is contemplating different initiatives for each rather than a single solution.”
“The NFDA will explore the initiatives with European car dealers and the Commission over the forthcoming months.”
