Pauline Irvine of Henderson’s Spar/BP forecourt in Lagan Valley, Northern Ireland, has been voted Sales Assistant of the Year in the forecourt category, and also triumphed by winning the Community award, in a competition run by sister magazine Convenience Store. The awards event was held at The Dorchester Hotel, with TV celebrity Anthea Turner making the presentations.
Pauline has worked as a sales assistant for Henderson’s for three years, but is also the store’s community representative and now has responsibility for training staff.
She excelled following a major expansion of the store, which saw staff numbers rise from five to 38. Pauline went from working the tills to becoming a trainer, and had to bring 32 new members of staff up to speed on policies and procedures. She has also organised a charity raffle which raised an impressive £1,000 for the local hospital’s stroke unit.
