Police believe Pokémon Go players could provide the key to tracking down burglars who broke in to a Sussex petrol station.
Crime scene investigator Chris Gee went on Twitter to appeal for witnesses after Tesco Extra in Durrington, Worthing, was broken into shortly after midnight on July 16.
In a video he said that CCTV footage taken from the night it happened showed a number of cars driving past and stopping nearby.
He realised that Durrington Community Centre, which is opposite the site, is a Pokéstop in the mobile game, and this means that players can collect Pokéballs and other items on the app by visiting it.
He said: “This happened at about ten to one in the morning and lots of cars were going past.”
“Let us know if you saw anything. Did you see anyone putting on any kind of clothing or gear? Did you see a car in the area that was acting suspiciously? If so, give us a ring.”
Anyone with any information should contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial number 53 of July 16, 2016.
