A police car has smashed into a Morrisons petrol station in Manchester after it lost control while responding to an emergency call-out.
The accident occurred at Morrisons’ petrol station on Ashton Old Road in Openshaw on Wednesday April 15 at around 8:30pm, and ended with the badly damaged police car crashed into a pillar inches away from the fuel pumps.
According to Greater Manchester Police, the marked police car was forced to swerve off the road after colliding with the white Audi. The police officer involved suffered only minor injuries, and was taken to hospital.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “A liveried police car responded to a request for assistance in Dukinfield and activated the car’s emergency equipment.
“As the officer was responding, the car he was driving collided with an Audi at the junction of Ashton Old Road and Turton Street in Openshaw.
“The collision caused the police car, a BMW, to then collide with furniture at a petrol station.
“The driver of the Audi was uninjured and the officer suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. He was later discharged from hospital.”
