West Midlands police spent nearly £9,000 of public money in 2013 on repairs to vehicles that had been filled with the wrong fuel. The information was released under the Freedom of Information Act.
In a bid to prevent further misfuelling, the force is working on a new ‘driver policy’, where all vehicles are having stickers put around their fuelling points advising that they are ‘diesel only’.
