The Petrol Retailers’ Association is continuing to urge affected retailers to increase fuel stocks following news that the Grangemouth oil refinery will remain shut.
Ineos, the operators of the refinery, have announced that it will remain shut until at least Tuesday.
PRA chairman Brian Madderson said: “Although it has been confirmed that 90% of volumes will still leave the refinery, there is still a small risk of disruption.
“However a major industry exercise is under way to put alternative supply plans in place. Forecourts that normally receive supplies from Grangemouth refinery are being urged to raise stock levels to keep forecourt fuel stocks above the 50% capacity level.
“The PRA will continue to monitor the situation to ensure our members are fully briefed in the event that the situation changes.”
He added: “The PRA would appreciate feedback from Scottish retailers on demand levels in comparison to October ‘norm’ as well as a comparison of their stock levels. We would also like any information on issues they experience with supply.”
