wo men escaped with minor injuries after a crash that destroyed petrol pumps at a filling station in Hythe, Kent.
One of the men was filling up his car at Palmarsh Filling Station on Monday morning, March 23, when another car skidded off the A259 Dymchurch Road and collided with his vehicle.
In addition to the extensive damage to the two vehicles, petrol pumps were also destroyed and the emergency services were called to the site.
Fire crews dealt with a petrol spillage and made the forecourt safe, and the two men, aged about 20 and 30, received treatment from paramedics.
Fuel supply in Hythe had its profile raised earlier this year when the competition authorities suggested there were grounds for an inquiry because MFG’s takeover of Murco’s retail assets left it owning two filling stations in the area.
MFG agreed to sell Seapoint Filling Station in Seabrook Road to remedy the problem.
