Staff at Spar-branded Queens Garage in the village of Indian Queens, Cornwall, have raised £1,530 for Cancer Research following a special fundraising day.
The event, held at the forecourt, was the company’s first major fundraising day for Cancer Research UK and staff at the store were delighted with the result.
The Mitchell family, who run the site, said: “We were hoping to raise £1,000 so we’re delighted we’ve managed to exceed this.
“We had great support from the local community and the day was made even better with the weather being on our side.”
Volunteers from the charity ran the barbecue and refreshments, there were side stalls, a display of classic vintage, veteran and Ford RS cars and motorcycles, and a bumper raffle was held with prize donations from customers, local businesses and Spar regional distributor Appleby Westward.
