Thieves broke into a BP forecourt in Buntingford, Hertfordshire and made off with thousands of pounds worth of tobacco, alcohol and cash.
According to the Hertforshire Mercury, security alarms at BP’s Howe Green Filling Station were activated at 3.25am on Monday March 5.
Intruders forced up a metal shutter at the back of the kiosk and took cigarettes, cash and alcohol.
It is thought the kiosk was unmanned at the time but an alarm alerted police to the oraid.
A police helicopter was deployed and two men were arrested on the A507 between Buntingford and Stevenage.
Grant Hames and Malcolm Guyton later appeared before Hatfield Magistrates’ Court. Both were charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and Guyton was also charged with failing to stop for a police officer.
