Seaside town could get its first forecourt for five years

Councillors in Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk are hoping the seaside town will get its first forecourt for more than five years.

Anglia Co-operative has plans to open a £3.75m supermarket in Wells and, according to internet news site EDP 24, town councillors have talked about the possibility of the company incorporating a petrol station into its plans.

During Wells Town Council’s meeting, one councillor said: “The town needs a filling station. Having no petrol station in Wells does have an adverse affect on trade in the town and can often mean people shop elsewhere.”

A spokesman for Anglia Co-operative told Forecourt Trader: “We’re looking at an adjacent piece of land with the possibility, at this stage, of a filling station. The planning application that has gone in is specifically for a foodstore only as this site is only large enough to accommodate a store.”
