Top 50 Indie Sewell Group has announced a new partnership deal to provide support for a local community group.
The company, which was ranked 21st in the 2013 Forecourt Trader Top 50 Indies, will be supporting 260 runners, acting as a ‘safe haven’ for members of the Fitmums & Friends group.
The new community partnership means that, if any member of the neighbourhood group gets into difficulty while out running, they’re able to visit their local Sewell on the go forecourt shop and know they will be welcomed and supported.
The stores will provide a safe shelter, water, access toilet facilities and telephone access should any member need it. The forecourts will also be used as catch up points for the groups.
Sam Barlow, founder of Fitmums & Friends said: “It’s great to have the support from a local retailer. Everyone knows where their local garage is, and it’s comforting for our runners to know, if they do become distressed or feel unsafe, they’re able to pop into a Sewell on the go store and will receive the support they need.”
Sewell Group managing director Patrick Sewell said: “As part of the Sewell Foundation we support local causes that matter to the communities we work in. Fitmums & Friends is a great way for people to get out, exercise and socialise.
“Our fuel and convenience stores are in the hearts of communities across Hull and East Riding, making them the ideal place for the groups to stop off, fill up their water bottles and shelter if the weather takes a turn for the worst.”
