A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a high-tech anti-intruder device was triggered at the Sainsbury’s petrol station in Cricketers Way, Westhoughton, Bolton, Greater Manchester.
Police and firefighters attended a call-out just before 9pm on Sunday night, when it is thought a man entered the closed petrol station kiosk through the roof.
His presence in the shop set off the anti-intruder device which filled the kiosk with synthetic smoke, and he is then believed to have hidden in the roof of the building.
Firefighters cleared the smoke from the shop, and police found the man and arrested him on suspicion of burglary.
Anyone with information can call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
