Cheddar Motors in the Somerset village of Cheddar has been sold in a deal brokered by specialist filling station property adviser Christie & Co.
The freehold interest in the forecourt and convenience store has been sold for an undisclosed sum.
The buyer is described as an experienced Sri Lankan forecourt operator from Guildford who is delighted with his new acquisition given the property’s reputation and prime location.
For over 60 years the business had been run successfully by the outgoing vendors, Paul Tame and his family. They are now looking forward to retirement.
Dave Morris of Christie & Co’s Bristol office commented: "Our clients are delighted that the property has passed to an experienced operator with high standards and a wealth of experience.
"The market for forecourt and convenience businesses is stronger than it has been for years. The sale of Cheddar Motors and the interest we generated illustrates the demand from operators throughout the UK."
