A new Shell petrol station and Spar supermarket in Southport, Merseyside, is being opened by G&E Murgatroyd, the retail arm of Spar’s northern England wholesaler James Hall.
The store is on the former Duerdens car showroom on Roe Lane, and is due to open at 7am on Thursday September 29, with the creation of 15 new jobs.
Company stores director Julie McAulay said: “We are really excited about opening our new Spar store on Roe Lane, which in addition to a great range of products and services, also includes a butchery counter run by local butcher Graham Eyes and a delicatessen.”
In July James Hall & Co acquired North East Convenience Stores (NECS), a 30-store family owned chain based in the North East of England. G&E Murgatroyd owns 114 Spar stores across the north of England.
