Wholesale distributor Sugro UK, is launching an online service for independent retailers which will enable them to place their orders directly with the company from anywhere in the UK.
The new service – Sugro On Line – goes live on January 5, 2004, although retailers have been able to register since the beginning of December.
Sugro currently supplies 41,000 outlets with a range of products that include confectionery, convenience products, tobacco, crisps and snacks.
But Philip Jenkins has plans to broaden the range to appeal to a wider audience. “We will start with the impulse stuff and expand the range from there,” he said.
“Business to business internet trading is about to take off as it did in the domestic market. We believe our introduction in the marketplace will kindle considerable interest.
“The internet site will be like opening doors to a cash and carry outlet, but online. People can expect to see the same strong offers, and the same service – and that will give them a good reason to go back.
“Sugro On Line is the first truly national internet wholesaler available for distribution on day one, and is one of the most exciting developments within the wholesale trade channel for a number of years.
“The well-established, well-respected service and availability that Sugro wholesalers provide to their customers are now equally available via the internet. All retailers need to do is to go to the website.”
Free stock is on offer with every first order. The website address is www.sugro.co.uk.
Sugro distributes products through its 61 wholesale nationwide distributor members.
The service is supported by 350 field and telesales personnel, and 450 delivery vehicles.
