Top 50 Indie Symonds Forecourts’ BP Budgens site in Wells, Somerset has been named Best Forecourt and Best New Store Of The Year at the Budgens Store of the Year Awards.
Jason Tamplin, manager of forecourt which opened in July last year, said: “This is a really proud moment for the store team and myself. We have worked hard in quickly establishing ourselves as a really good local mini market, where you can pop in and do a quick top-up shop or your full grocery range.
“We make sure we compete on price with our Tesco Price match on the key everyday lines, but we pride ourselves on our customer service and exceeding our customer expectations.”
The store was recognised for its work with charities after raising £1,000 for childrens cancer charity CLIC, as well as its development of sales with local suppliers such as Jon Thorners and Box Bush Farms.
Symonds also came runner up in the Grocer Gold Awards for Best Independent Retailer in the UK, which was held in the Guildhall in London.
Symonds managing director Nick Lloyd said: “An amazing amount of hard work goes into delivering the best standards and service we can. We are really proud of the team in Wells who have picked up these awards, as well as earlier in the year being recognised nationally in the Convenience Retail Awards as the Best Sustainable retailer.”
