Strong winds blew the roof off a Tesco Extra petrol station in Hull yesterday, according to local press reports. Witnesses near the site on Park Street, behind St Stephen’s shopping centre, heard a loud bang at around 1.15pm and looked up to see the roof crashing down onto the forecourt.
Luckily there were no injuries, but four cars were damaged, said the report in the Hull Daily Mail. A Tesco spokesman was quoted in the story: "Due to high winds, the roof has suffered damage and we’ve cordoned off the forecourt temporarily as we wait for engineers to attend as soon as possible."
