Tesla is reported to be working on plans to sever the last links between filling stations and customers who own its electric cars.
Owners can already charge their cars at home, removing the need to refuel at filling stations, and now, according to US website Electrek, it is trialling a car wash service that would cut filling stations out of its customers’ lives entirely.
It says Tesla is looking into a partnership with Eco Green Auto Clean, a mobile hand car wash company.
Eco Green Auto Clean has a cleaning process using microfibre towels, a biodegradable auto wash spray and about a cup of water per vehicle.
The Tesla service is reported to be subscription-based with a cost of about $80 a month.
Tesla is currently testing the company’s service with employees at its Fremont Factory in California, and if it is successful it is reported to be interesting in deploying it at charging locations.
