Thieves used a stolen pick-up truck to make off with an ATM from a Wirral forecourt. The incident happened at the BP garage in Spital in the early hours of Friday, January 12. Officers were called to the site on Brimstage Road at around 1.35am.

The cash machine was found around half-a-mile down the road – it had been dragged along the road leaving a trail of debris in its wake. It also caused damage to the road, pavement and walls along its route.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen either a yellow pick-up truck or a blue Jaguar car in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

The police added that “enquiries were ongoing into whether any cash was stolen”, however a report in The Liverpool Echo stated that staff at the forecourt said the ATM had been abandoned after it released anti-theft dye over the notes.
