Two men were scheduled to appear in court this week after an ATM was blown up at a forecourt in Cheadle. According to the Manchester Evening News, the incident – at the BP garage in Stockport Road – happened in the early hours of Monday January 11.

Police were called after reports of an explosion at the BP garage, and when they arrived they found the badly damaged cash machine with pieces strewn across the forecourt. The perpetrators had made off with most off the cash.
Muhammad Sarwar, manager at the BP garage, told the Manchester Evening News that the explosion took place at 1.52am, when it triggered the firm’s security alarm. He described the resulting scene as a “mess”.
Apparently this incident follows similar raids at ATMs across Greater Manchester in recent months.
