A report into the future options for transport energy has been welcomed by UK Petroleum Industry Association (UKPIA).
The Transport Energy Task Force, established by the Department for Transport and the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) in September 2014, this week published its final report.
The group, comprising a wide number of stakeholders, was tasked to examine and outline policy options regarding transport energy and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from UK transport to 2030 and beyond.
UKPIA participated in the task force and provided information and expert advice on fuels, fuel quality and the sector as whole.
Chris Hunt, UKPIA’s director general, commented: “The report recognises that liquid fuels will continue to dominate transport to 2030. It is therefore crucial that concerns highlighted in the report - such as fuel quality, feedstocks’ availability, sustainability and economic costs - are thoroughly examined in future considerations.”
