Welcome Break has opened its first Ed’s Easy Diner site, at the South Mimms service station located at J23 of the M25 near Potters Bar. The refurbishment represents an investment of about £1m by the company, and has created 29 jobs.
The diner is described by Welcome Break as a move back towards traditional motorway services areas where people are catered for, and will offer a table service to customers.
Welcome Break CEO Rod McKie said: “Since we announced Welcome Break’s partnership with Ed’s Easy Diner I have been looking forward to welcoming our customers to this new roadside dining experience.
In recent years we have noticed a growing trend with our customers, who tend to enjoy more dwell time at our service stations, and we wanted to offer them a new dining experience that allowed them to do this. I am so excited to finally open the doors to Ed’s Easy Diner to our South Mimms customers, and we hope they enjoy the great quality food and American-style diner experience.”
Paul Gilligan, Property Director of Ed’s said: “This marks a special point in Ed’s history and the start of what we hope will be a long-term partnership with Welcome Break. We’ve always felt that diners and drivers go hand in hand which is why this is a perfect fit for us.”
