Fruit ciders and low- and no-alcohol beer are key for adults over Halloween, says Heineken

Heineken is offering retailers a suite of Halloween-themed point of sale materials for its top-selling beer and cider brands.

The in-store campaign invites shoppers to ‘Meet the Chillers’, bringing the seasonal opportunity to life in-store with free standing display units, posters, wobblers, and shelf barkers, as well as digital assets for retailers’ social media platforms. 

The supplier – which is highlighting Strongbow Original, Strongbow Dark Fruit, Desperados, Heineken and Heineken 0.0 – says that beer and cider sales increased by 4.6% in the week of Halloween last year.

The occasion has become the biggest seven-day trading period during autumn, it adds, with flavoured fruit cider overtrading with younger consumers during this period. Also, with 55% of millennials celebrating Halloween and this age group known to moderate their alcohol intake, leveraging low- and no-alcohol products is important at this time of the year, it adds.

Heineken UK’s customer director Paul Gordon says: “Halloween is a fantastic event for retailers and wholesalers to get involved and have fun with, as adults up and down the country will be looking to celebrate and socialise.
