Making money from every square foot of a forecourt will be the main theme at Forecourt Trader’s Roadway to Profit Summit in February.

Following a year of increased cost pressures for many retailers, three separate panels will discuss how to make a profit, keep it, and find lucrative revenue streams in the future.

Exclusive Lumina research on consumer expectations and forecourt operator trends will be revealed.

Topics covered will include:

  • How innovations such as autonomous sites, pay at pump technology, solar panels, and self checkouts can save operators money;
  • Which business concessions and foodservice trends will help retailers unlock profits;
  • Case studies on successful diversification schemes, including exploiting under-used space for an animal feed business and a boutique hotel above a forecourt.
  • Exploring how technology can improve the loss of profits to theft, and the role of loyalty programmes to retain valued customers.

With the introduction of the Fuel Finder initiative scheduled for early February, experts will share insights into how the scheme is working, and how it might be used to operators’ benefit.

Industry heavyweights participating this year include Joseph Richardson from Jos. Richardson & Son; Vicky Hennessy and Tony Jackson from Penny On The Move; Forecourt Trader of the Year 2025 David Charman, and Gordon Balmer executive director of the Petrol Retailers Association.

Sarah Dunning, chair of Westmorland Group, owner of Tebay Services and Gloucester Services, will give a talk on the challenges of dealing with local suppliers, recruiting staff; and the company’s latest work in progress Tatton Services in Cheshire.
