EG On The Move has applied to Nottingham City Council to turn an old forecourt site in Nottingham into a new petrol filling station (PFS).
Most recently the site, at 160 London Road, has been occupied by a hand car wash and the application proposes the demolition of said car wash facility and associated kiosk, and the erection of a roadside services facility, comprising a petrol filling station, ancillary kiosk building, EV charging spaces, car parking, landscaping works and various infrastructure.
The specifics of the proposal include the demolition of the existing 1,345sq ft car wash building and the erection of PFS for domestic vehicles with a 3,251sq shop. There will also be 13 car parking spaces, including two DDA spaces, plus five parking spaces for staff and four high powered (150KW+) EV charging bays. The plans also include an electric substation, two Sheffield cycle stands, providing four cycle parking spaces; a Tesla cabinet; and landscaping/planting. The proposed development will allow for the provision of additional high powered (150KW+) EV charging points, with a design that is future-proofed with the ability to expand the EV offer.
The application says: “The car wash building was most recently occupied by an independent operator and is in a tired state which detracts from the wider area and does not contribute economically or visually to Nottingham.”
The development will comprise roadside infrastructure, immediately accessible from London Road (A60), which provides access north into central Nottingham and the surrounding areas. Given the site’s location immediately adjacent to the prominent A-road, the application states that it is in “the optimum location to provide roadside services for which the operator, a leading provider in the sector, has identified a requirement”.
In addition to existing vehicular access, the plans include new pedestrian access which will be provided along the western boundary of the site through stepped access from Meadows Way.
The proposals will generate approximately 20 new jobs.
