Jonathan and Michelle Finch are celebrating their Spar Millburn forecourt being with the symbol group for 15 years.
The couple have invested £400,000 on the Cookstown, County Tyrone site since it opened in 2006. Most recently, in 2023, they introduced a deli counter, new refrigeration, flooring, lighting, self-checkouts, and new fuel pumps.
With Northern Ireland’s petrol stations being renowned for food to go, the Finch’s Deli is innovative with its hot breakfasts and lunches. This includes a Kids Lunch Best Menu listing Crispy Mini Chicken Goujons and fries, and Cheese Chips and Sausages; alongside adult alternatives.
At a fun day in August, customers were invited to try special lunch deals and giveaways including a TV, and kettle and toaster set. The store has raised over £10,000 from such community events, including bake sales, raffles and tea mornings; and for 2026 it has nominated Charis Cancer Care as its main charity focus.
Michelle Finch comments: “Our local community is central to everything we do and that is why we have made such significant investments over the years to expand our services and product offering for our shoppers.
“Our team decided that we wanted our anniversary to be about our community and celebrating with them. Our fun day was a great way to show our appreciation to our loyal shoppers and thank them for their support over the years.”
Richard Ash, sales director at Henderson Group, which owns the Spar brand in Northern Ireland, says the Finch family, which has three other Spar sites, is integral to the local community. He adds that it is “great to see them celebrating alongside their shoppers”.
