The first unit went live in an MFG forecourt near Glasgow Airport

Top 50 Indie MFG is the first to trial a Greggs Express self-service station, designed to make it more convenient for customers to pick up a snack from the food-to go brand.

The first unit has been unveiled at a petrol forecourt just outside Glasgow Airport, with savoury bakes, sweet treats and Fairtrade hot drinks.

The trial, which will assess customer behaviour and response to the self-service offer, will see a small number of self-service units in MFG locations over the coming months.

MFG’s head of operations – food service, Jamie Constable, believes that the self-service format is “perfectly suited to the fast-paced, on-the-go needs of our customers”. 395603_greggsselfservice1_778011

The units dispense Fairtrade hot drinks

Greggs property director Tony Rowson agrees: “The units will allow customers to grab their favourite bake or serve coffee themselves, ideal for customers on the move.”

He adds: “Working with MFG, the trial will help us understand how this format can support our growth ambitions alongside our broader estate growth plans, while continuing to deliver the great-tasting food and value our customers expect.”
