Zapgo recently installed EV charging at a Tesco Express in Scotland

Zapgo, the EV chargepoint operator which aims to bring rapid EV charging to overlooked local destinations, is seeking independent forecourt operators to partner with.

The company’s most recent installation was at the Tesco Express store in Lochmaben, Lockerbie, with the new site featuring a 200kW charger serving two bays.

It says its fully funded “Zero cost, zero effort, zero risk” model allows property owners to offer EV charging as an additional amenity with no capital investment while generating revenue from every charging session.

Of working with petrol stations, Neil Mahapatra, CEO at Zapgo, says: “Forecourts play an immensely important role in the UK’s green transition. We understand that this transition may mean significant upfront investment for independent forecourt owners. At Zapgo, we’re determined to ensure no part of the country is left behind by the shift to net zero, which is why our fully-funded model helps independent forecourts ready themselves for the future of electric motoring in a very practical way.”

Dee Humphries, chief revenue officer at Zapgo, adds: “Independent forecourts provide a focal point for communities in many parts of the UK and the role they play is essential to a successful EV transition. Through partnering with Zapgo, we believe the role of independent forecourt operators can be strengthened further to help them serve their communities more strongly while contributing to a cleaner, greener future.”

Earlier this year, Zapgo selected AMPECO as its EV charging platform provider to support its ambitious rollout programme.
