Partnership will give BP staff access to free counselling, amongst other services

BP has announced it is the first retailer to sign up to Retail Trust for five years, a move that will make the charity’s counselling, financial aid and virtual GP services available to employees working for the oil major.

Every new BP store manager will receive training on how staff can make use of Retail Trust’s services, while the firm is also backing the charity’s ‘Let’s Respect Retail’ campaign, which aims to protect staff from abuse at work.

Back in 2023 BP was the first energy firm to partner with Retail Trust in a three-year agreement that made the charity’s services available to 6,700 staff.

The firm’s UK retail operations director, Andy Allen, says extending the partnership for a further five years will allow BP “to build on what we have learned so far, use insight more effectively, and continue creating a positive, supportive environment where our people can thrive”.

He adds that BP’s work with the charity has allowed it to “put meaningful support in place, from training for new store managers to confidential services colleagues can access whenever they need them”.

Chris Brook-Carter, chief executive of Retail Trust, says the five-year commitment “demonstrates just how seriously BP takes the wellbeing of its colleagues”.
