BP is downplaying rumours about a decline in the number of Nectar points being issued at its sites.

The oil company said that while there has been a dip in issuance rates at some sites, overall issuance was still up. “As with any new scheme there will be an initial surge of interest but you can’t sustain that,” said a BP spokesman. “BP’s market share is up one per cent, and fuel volume is up four per cent, which can partly be attributed to Nectar.” However, there is to be a review of the scheme to look at ways to boost interest. “BP is looking at opportunities to work with the other partners,” said the spokesman.
