Top 50 Indie Calanike Retail is rebranding nine BP sites to Esso, with two more sites - both Jet branded - following suit to Esso later in the year. Kenny Webster, managing director of Calanike, which has 19 sites, explained: "We are delighted to be joining forces
with Esso. The brand is instantly recognisable and with the introduction of the Esso fuel card offering in the converted service stations, this is a great opportunity for Calanike and Esso to grow their businesses together."
In addition to the canopy, pumps and staff uniforms changing colour, the Calanike sites will get new satellite technology to improve security protection for customers paying with credit cards or Esso cards.
Ronald Skimming, Scotland territory manager of Esso, said the deal with Calanike will greatly improve Esso’s representation in the areas it is moving to. Calanike is based in Kirklintillock, north of Glasgow, and operates in the Scottish central belt, Ayrshire and the north of England. The first nine sites to get the Esso treatment are: Hamilton Rd, Glasgow; Possilpark, Croftfoot, Chryston, Kirkintilloch - all Glasgow; Largs, Ayrshire; Dunfermline, Fife; Denny, Stirlingshire; and Ayr. Mark Mason, dealer manager for Esso, added: "Calanike is one of the major service station dealer groups in the UK and we’re pleased it has chosen Esso for a large number of their sites."
