Top 50 Indie MRH Retail has opened a filling station within a new £12.5m complex developed by Cornwall Gateway Services. The site is at the Victoria Interchange junction on the A30, less than 10 minutes from Bodmin in Cornwall. In addition to the petrol filling station, the complex comprises a main building with food and drink concessions, retail outlets including WH Smith, Costa, Subway and McDonald’s, a cash point, Wifi, car parking for 230 cars, and dedicated bays for HGVs, coaches and caravans. The petrol filling station, which is open 24 hours a day, includes a 1,000sq ft Spar. Simon Warren, head of sales at Appleby Westward, the wholesaler for Spar stores in the South West, said: "This is the largest forecourt development MRH has been involved in, and is the first time we have been involved in the building of a forecourt store completely from scratch."
Mark Upton, development manager of Cornish Gateway Services, said: "We wanted to give anyone passing through on their way to Cornwall a relaxing environment to stop and refresh." Phase two of the development will see the addition of a 70-bed hotel and a tourist information centre.
