Top 50 Indie Grove retail, which operates around 30 forecourts, has been granted planning permission to reinstate a derelict petrol station – with every amenity bar petrol pumps and a canopy roof.
The forecourt is in the town of Johnstone, 10 miles to the west of Glasgow. It was abandoned in 2013 and has since become a local eyesore, a status that’s set to end now that Grove has secured permission from Renfrewshire Council to redevelop the site.
Rather than simply reinstating the petrol station, however, Grove is opting to build a £1m forecourt with a thoroughly modern twist. So out go the old petrol pumps, and in come eight EV charging bays in their place. A glass-fronted, timber-clad 4,030sq ft shop, set to be inhabited by Tesco, will also be erected, although no canopy features in Grove’s plans.
Two jet wash bays, an Istobal automatic car wash and Wash.Me outdoor laundrette facilities will also be installed, as will Airserv water/air/vac machines.
