Londis has developed dedicated in-store pos displays to prepare retailers and shoppers in England for the carrier bag levy.
From Monday 5 October, as part of the Government’s policy to reduce waste, a minimum 5p charge for single use carrier bags comes into force in England for retailers with over 250 full-time employees. A similar levy is already in force in Wales and Scotland.
In a move to prepare shoppers for the change, Londis has issued detailed guidance outlining the retailers’ responsibilities and how best to ensure compliance with the new legislation. In addition it has developed the pos kit.
John Pattison, Londis brand director, said: “Londis retailers are at the heart of local communities and the levy will help us build on the work they do to promote good causes. This is an opportunity not only to reduce our environmental impact but also give local charities a boost.
“Many shoppers already choose to invest in Londis reusable and jute bags but the levy will encourage people to think twice about single use carriers. We’ve created dedicated pos displays to ensure that our customers are properly informed about the local benefits of this scheme.”
