York police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted on a forecourt in the city.
It occurred at around 11.30pm on Tuesday 22 July, on the forecourt of the Jet garage in Lawrence Street.
A group of around four or five people approached a group already at the garage and were verbally abusive towards them, before the assault took place.
As a result of the incident a 22-year-old York man was knocked to the ground and suffered a broken nose, suspected broken jaw and bruises to his face.
PC Alan Collier, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was a nasty and apparently unprovoked assault which left a man needing hospital treatment.
“If you have any information which could assist my investigation I urge you to come forward.”
