A 40-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with an armed robbery at a Norfolk petrol station.

Paul Tyler, of Prior Stephen Way in Thetford, was arrested on Wednesday January 29 and charged with robbery.

It comes after a man armed with a knife entered the Nun’s Bridges Service Station, Thetford, at 8.23pm on October 15th. He demanded money from the cashier and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man fled on foot and a police helicopter was scrambled to help in an unsuccessful search for him.

Steve Jones, owner of the Harvest service station, said no-one was injured during the incident, and the site reopened for business the following morning.

The site was in the news in April last year when a police officer tried to sue Jones after falling over during a call-out, although she later withdrew the claim.
