MRH has revealed more details of its plans to develop Subway stores at its sites after opening the first one at Bellshill in Glasgow.
Two more have opened at Springburn, Glasgow, and Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, and it plans to have 10 operating by the end of the year, and 30 a year later.
MRH managing director John Lynn said: “MRH Retail is constantly striving to improve its consumer offerings. Our partnership with the Subway brand brings a strong brand and operating system which works well in the forecourt environment. We are keen to develop this partnership and look forward to opening further outlets in the coming years.”
Mike Charest, assistant regional director for Subway Europe, said: “We are delighted to have a development plan in place with MRH Retail, which will see 30 new Subway stores open at its sites by the end of next year. With three sites already open, and a further seven planned for this year, the partnership is off to a strong start.
“Forecourts are an ideal site for our non-traditional stores. Due to their simple operations, minimal space and equipment requirements our stores are well suited to these sorts of sites. The Subway brand is keen to develop such locations in partnership with successful companies just like MRH Retail.”
MRH is number one in the Forecourt Trader Top 50 Indies with more than 370 sites, and is one of the top 10 convenience store retailers in the UK by store numbers.
