Rontec has leased a site at Alnwick, Northumberland, which has been vacant for more than a year, and will reopen it tomorrow.
The Northumberland Estates developed the site at Cawledge and it first opened in June 2012, but the initial tenant suffered a number of problems and it closed six months later.
The site’s fuel offer will be BP-branded, and Rontec’s Shop’N Drive convenience store will open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The reopening has created nine new jobs and a further nine are expected to follow in May.
The site also has planning permission for a drive-thru restaurant and there is speculation in the town that it may be taken by McDonald’s.
Under the planning conditions, a detailed application would have to be submitted by November next year.
