Sainsbury’s has run its second deep discount promotion on fuel this summer.
Running from Thursday August 29 until Wednesday September 4, it offered customers who spent £60 or more in store a coupon entitling them to 10p off each litre of fuel at any of the supermarket group’s 285 forecourts. Customers ordering more than £60 of groceries online with Sainsbury’s also received a coupon with their delivery.
The offer was supported with a campaign in the national press, on TV and online, and with in-store promotions. The retailer said it had timed the offer to coincide with the end of the summer holidays, a time when families prepare for the new school year. It ran a similar campaign from July 25-31.
Richard Crampton, head of fuel at Sainsbury’s, said: "We know that families use the end of the summer holidays to prepare for the new school year and we’re committed to helping them balance their budgets wherever we can. We know the summer holidays can be expensive for our customers so we’re delighted to be able to help their budgets go further over the next few weeks."
