CBD infused drinks have a place in forecourts, says Trip

Trip has won its first listing for its carbonated soft drinks with a nationwide forecourt chain, Top 50 Indie Rontec.

While forecourts are better known for stocking energy drinks to enliven motorists, the calming influence of Trip’s drinks have a role for drivers too, maintains the business.

Rontec started to stock two of the four CBD Infused cans at almost two-thirds of its locations at the beginning of August - the Peach Ginger and Elderflower Mint.

Two weeks later, the 167 sites also took two of Trip’s three Mindful Blend drinks - which are also said to help people “find calm” - in Blood Orange Rosemary and Cucumber Mint.

The Mindful Blend is the first foray for the business outside of the CBD space. The supplier says that it was first to market with this functional mushroom and adaptogen range.

And since launch in April, the range formulated with of the moment ingredients lion’s mane, magnesium, and ashwagandha, has generated over 3.5 billion searches on social media.

While Rontec is the first national forecourt operator to list the drinks, some petrol stations will be taking the products from wholesalers James Hall, which lists the CBD cans, and AF Blakemore which takes both brands, says the company.

Trip’s impulse and wholesale lead George Meller says that other big national petrol station owners are interested in the drinks too.

“We have plenty of other irons in the fire with national forecourts which have agreed to go live in the coming months,” says Meller.

The 250ml cans have a recommended retail price of £2.20 to £2.25 in forecourts.
