Perfetti Van Melle has announced that its flagship mint brand, Smint, is now the number one sugar-free mint brand in the UK (IRI data). Superseding competitors including Polo and Tic Tac, and growing at three times the rate of the category, Smint accounts for 35% of the sugar-free mint market, with a value of £9.5m and a growth rate up 44% in the last four weeks alone.
The Smint range features a variety of popular flavours including Peppermint, Spearmint, Sweet Mint and Strawberry, which come in tins, bottles and dispenser formats – giving consumers an instant, burst of freshness on the go.
The Smint portfolio was refreshed last year to include Smint Defensive, which launched in response to the growing demand for immune enhancing products. Available in a widely recyclable 18-piece flip top box, Smint Defensive’s sugar-free peppermint lozenges contain Vitamin C, B6 and Zinc, which help to support the immune system and reduce tiredness and fatigue.
Caroline Grimshaw, product manager at Smint , said: “Thanks to constant innovation, combined with our continued investment in the brand, Smint continues to be a must-stock for retailers.”
