Rontec Leek New Road

Rontec is awaiting a decision for a planning application at its Holden Bridge Service Station in Leek New Road, Stoke-on-Trent.

The Top 50 Indie has identified the site for improvement/modernisation as it says the existing filling station is now outdated.

Its planning application seeks permission for the replacement and extension of the existing forecourt shop as well as external changes.

The proposed new shop will measure 205sq m (gross internal area), which is an

increase of 98sq m. Rontec says the majority of the additional floor space created will be for the back-office area and is not retail space.

The plans say the shop will have a ‘clean and contemporary’ design featuring a glazed curtain walling frontage with dark grey framework on the frontage elevation facing the forecourt.

As part of the reconfiguration, the existing car wash will be demolished to provide 16 new car parking spaces including one disabled bay.

In addition, four parking spaces located by the existing jet wash bay will be ‘future proofed’ to enable their conversion to EV charging bays at a later date.

There will also be three cycle parking stands which would have space for six bikes.

So far, there has been one comment from a member of the public whose property backs onto the site. They say that spray from the existing jet wash splashes them when they are sitting in their garden and they would like measures to be taken to prevent this.
