BP’s partnership with M&S Simply Food has led to success in the Convenience Tracking Programme Awards where it was voted as the Best Forecourt Retailer following a poll of 27,000 shoppers across 30 retail chains.

Runners up in the category were Esso on The Run and Texaco.

The BP/M&S Simply Food format also took a second title as the Best Food-to-Go Retailer, while Shell shared first place in the Best Impulse Retailer section with the women’s volunteer service WRVS.

Tom Fender, director of shopper research specialist HIM, which organises the awards, said: “The fact that 10 years ago you couldn’t get much more than a bar of chocolate from the typical forecourt, the awards recognise how far forecourts have developed as credible convenience stores.”

A spokesman for BP said: “We’re delighted to have won, and to receive recognition for our achievements as a convenience retailer and the success and interest of the public in our BP Connect Simply Food partnership pilot.”
