West Midlands Police have seized a van with an obscured number plate, with officers subsequently linking the vehicle to a drive-off.
The van first attracted the attention of the police after they determined its registered keeper had made a statutory off-road notification (SORN) for it to the DVLA, which excuses a vehicle from road tax but means it cannot be driven or parked on the road.
The same officers had been making inquires regarding a fuel theft from a forecourt in the Holbrooks area of Coventry and, after conducting further investigations into the van, linked it someone they had identified as the perpetrator of the drive-off.
The van was subsequently removed by a recovery firm on behalf of the police.
