Plans to develop a car wash business on the site of a former petrol station at Wilmslow, in Cheshire, have been withdrawn.
Shines applied to change the use of the Kings Arms Service Station site, on Alderley Road, which has been left vacant after the previous buildings were demolished.
The application was for a hand car wash and valeting service, and ancillary buildings, together with a new drainage channel.
Nearly 70 residents objected and Wilmslow Town Council’s Planning Committee recommenedd refusal on the grounds of the likely impact on the highway caused by vehicles queueing to access the facility thereby causing a hazard to other traffic. The committee also raised concerns over the adequacy of the drains and treatment of waste water from the car wash.
