Customers and employees at Gulf forecourts across Glasgow, owned by Certas Energy, donated almost £2,500 during December 2015 to Yorkhill Children’s Charity, which raises funds to support the babies, children and young people treated at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow (formerly Yorkhill Hospital).
Donating funds to Yorkhill Children’s Charity was suggested by Senga Mulrine, Certas Energy’s cluster manager, and was widely supported by employees at the nine Gulf-branded retail forecourts which took part by displaying donation buckets on the counter at each site during December 2015.
Senga commented, “December is a month of goodwill when people are feeling generous and empathetic toward others, particularly those who are suffering or have family in hospital. Yorkhill Children’s Charity at the Royal Hospital for Children is close to all the sites collecting money from customers and, at some point in their lives, most local residents will have benefited from its services in one way or another.
“We were delighted with the amount raised in such as short space of time, especially as most of the donations were low value coins but it all added up to a handsome contribution at the end.”
Kirsten Sinclair, director of fundraising at Yorkhill Children’s Charity, commented: “We are incredibly grateful for the support from Gulf and their customers. This very generous donation will help us ensure that our young patients and their families at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow have the best possible care and experience.”
